I just watched her make this; it looks delectable. I think I’d want to substitute amaretto for the rum, though.

This is the best purchase I ever made. Though it says it’s for lumbar massage, I use it on my shoulders. It really digs in with little rotating discs that have two knobs on each the size of marbles (or fingers). I couldn’t live without this thing because I’m constantly being horrible to my shoulders in non-ergonomic ways.

What a fun way of presenting these. Though I prefer something akin to Vanilla Roux Frosting on Red Velvet Cupcakes:
1 cup milk
5 Tbsp. flour
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
In a small saucepan, whisk the milk slowly into the flour. Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer, whisking constantly. Cook for 2-3 minutes until visibly thickened (it will thicken much more as it cools). Pour into a shallow bowl to cool and press some plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the mixture to keep a skin from forming. Let cool completely. COMPLETELY.
Using an electric mixer cream together the butter and sugar until very light and fluffy. Beat in the flour mixture a tablespoon at a time until it’s all incorporated and the frosting is smooth and creamy/fluffy. Beat in the vanilla.
Makes enough for a 2-layer cake.

I would like to have a fence like this around a charming cottage, someday.

Likewise, I’m fascinated by things of either large or smaller scale than normal and a good tilt-shift (or tilt-shift manipulation) photo gives the same feeling as a well-built miniature. It’s even more of a delight seeing familiar things in this format.

I’ve always been enthralled by perspectives other than our typical daily experience, which is why maps and aerial photography have such a hold on me.
